IS everyone at the council blind? If not, then why has no one taken the time and trouble to see that Fossgate is not wide enough for parking and traffic and pedestrians, which continues to cause obstructions day after day?
Piccadilly, on the other hand, has a road and pavements more than twice the width of Fossgate.
This is only a street away so why not just use both sides of Piccadilly instead?
In January 2004, Fossgate was promised that it would be included in the next phase of "footstreets of York", as quoted in the letter sent to me.
This would have had time bands for deliveries and pick-ups.
Business would most definitely increase if people could walk with comfort down a clean attractive street instead of a noisy traffic-jammed mess.
Parking meters in Fossgate are a big mistake.
Mrs S Hardie,
The Blue Bell,
Fossgate,
York.
