YORKSHIRE CCC will put on show their 22-year-old trialist Australian fast bowler Mitchell Claydon in the three-day first class friendly match against Bangladesh 'A' which starts at Headingley tomorrow.
Claydon, who has played cricket in New South Wales for the same club side as Phil Jaques, has taken part in some second team games for Yorkshire this season and is reported to be extremely nippy.
He is the second Australian to be tried out by Yorkshire in recent weeks, paceman Adam Warren featuring in a totesport League game and two Twenty20 Cup matches before being released.
Although several regular first team players are rested before the hectic last seven weeks of the season get under way, Matthew Wood and Joe Sayers are both chosen and are expected to open the batting.
Michael Lumb, axed from the Championship team for the past three matches, comes into the side along with Chris Taylor and either of these two could retain their place if they make runs and Wood fails to improve on his recent form.
Simon Guy takes over behind the stumps from Ismail Dawood, who dropped a couple of catches in the Championship match against Derbyshire, and as well as closely monitoring Claydon, director of cricket David Byas will be keen to follow the progress of Hull-born paceman Steven Patterson who has turned in some impressive performances recently with the Second XI.
Yorkshire (v Bangladesh 'A') from: Wood, Sayers, Lumb, Taylor, Pyrah, Gale, Guy, Lucas, Wainwright, Blain, Claydon, Patterson.
