As a member of York Lions Club, which is a member club of Lions Clubs International, we highly commend the Rotary Club of York and their magnificent achievement of attaining the prestigious award by Rotary International for their outstanding service to the community.
We Lions also serve our community in much the same way, however I must point out that Lions Clubs International is the largest service organisation in the world with 1.4 million members in 44,000 clubs in 193 geographical areas and countries throughout the world.
Some years ago the international presidents of both organisations were looking at the possibility of the two service organisations merging as we both carry out very similar community work.
Does any Rotarian know of developments in this direction?
