I wish to add my name to the growing number of people who are justifiably outraged at the thought of Arc Light opening a centre in the heart of this busy residential area
We are not NIMBYS (not in my back yard) and realise that the work Arc Light does is laudable, but the situation is completely wrong.
Quite apart from the financial aspects, which are enormous, it would be far too close to two old people's homes, Colton Cottages and Fothergill homes.
No amount of reassuring plans and diagrams will remove the fear from these vulnerable people.
The whole area is full of hard-working families who simply wish to continue to live without fear, and certainly do not want their children and grandchildren to be mixing with these undesirables.
Perhaps the council is thinking of going the whole hog and moving the two old peoples homes to "suitable sites" in Micklegate or Rougier Street?
Please let someone with common sense sort this out and give us peace of mind once more.
