CHRIS Thompson showed why he is a top county player with two maximums in a fantastic 15 darts in York John Smith's Men's League division one.

Tony Cooper added 16, Jon O'Mara 19 and Thompson-Cooper finished with 24 as Sun 'A' beat Crescent 6-3, the losers having Paul Bartlett out in 20.

A two-dart 86 finish from Tony Snowden capped a 7-2 win for Britannia over Cue Ball.

The ever-consistent John Pickering led his Mitre team to a 6-3 win at Cygnet 'B', while Billy Hopcutt-Darrell Beavers were the match-winners for Dringhouses in a 6-3 defeat of Swan.

Mark Jones was Shepherd's match-winner as they went back to the top of division two with an 8-1 win at Sun 'B'.

Mark Brookes gamed in 21 then partnered Pete West to take the decider and aggregate by two points for Holgate against previous leaders Rose & Crown.

Pete Edwards again starred for Fulfordgate in a 7-2 win over Green Tree and Keith Allan-Danny Calpin were the match-winners for Flag 'A' in a 6-3 victory over Institute.

The three fastest finishes is hotting up with Chris Thompson, Sun 'A' on 14-15-15=44, John Mooring, Cygnet 'A' 13-14-18=45, Tony Cooper, Sun 'A' 14-16-17=47 and John Pickering, Mitre 14-17-18=49.

Top-of-the-table Mitre lost 5-4 at home to Clifton in York Knavesmire Racing League division one, while rivals Volunteer defeated Pack 7-2.

Mitre trailed 3-1 after Martyn Turner's 2x17 and 22-darters from Paul Brandon and Martin Waddington, but they levelled through Ali Wray (20) and John Quantock with a superb 14 darts. Dave O'Hara's 134 finish set up the decider which saw Bruce Wray-Alan Duncan win it.

Volunteer 'A' had their match won within the singles with Paul Cooper doing well with 18 and 19. Paul Botterill (19) and Mick Willsden combined to take the win with a 25-dart pairs leg.

A 121 finish for 21 from Gary Stead set Falcon on the way to a 7-2 win at Ebor, who had 17-darters from Mark Hartley and Paul Armstrong, while Karl Masiak was Volunteer 'B's best with 22 and 23 at Crescent 'B'.

In division two, leaders Yearsley 'A' thrashed Palace 9-1. Dave Johnson (23) and Mark Fratson (21) shone.

A 121 finish from Glyn Jeffery stood out in Bootham Tavern 'A's 9-1 hammering of Edinburgh, while Mark Moore hit a maximum for Leeman at Groves WMC.

Arthur Caple's 18-darter inspired Poppleton Road WMC 'B' to victory but a 21-darter from Bob Rochester saved the aggregate for Reindeer.

Division three leaders Clifton 'B' cruised to a 9-1 win at Old Ebor, while Winning Post had a brilliant 16-darter from skipper Dave Foyer to leap Cygnet 'B' into second with a 7-3.

A 98 finish from Julie Brownlee inspired Mount to an 8-2 win at Indoor Bowls, while Lord Nelson moved into contention with a 6-4 win over Poppleton Road WMC 'A'.
