A YORK-BASED technology company has been identified as one of 28 top high-growth firms in York and North Yorkshire.

Terrington Data Management, of the IT centre in York Science Park, Heslington, has been selected by the Business Accelerator Network (BAN) to receive an injection of specialist help and advice because of its high-growth potential.

The firm achieved six-figure revenues through sales of its software products in the first quarter after its launch and with the help from BAN, the firm predicts further substantial growth.

BAN was developed by Business Link York and North Yorkshire with support and funding from Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund.

Terrington Data Management is responsible for the creation of innovative products. One of them is FisCal - a package that enables petroleum companies to prove the accuracy of equipment used to measure oil and gas volumes.

It also devised TransForm - which uses mobile wireless computing to simplify data capture, providing a paperless and auditable means for businesses in sectors such as pharmaceuticals to record their work and meet compliance requirements.

Terrington has an impressive list of blue chip clients in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food manufacture and energy generation sectors.

Mark Williams, Terrington's chief executive and managing director, said BAN would continue to help him keep his growth ambitions on track.

He said: "They are helping us to access financial and business support to address skills gaps in the company and are helping the business to overcome issues that would otherwise hamper growth.

"This is important as assessment of our target markets suggests the potential for growth is significant and it is expected that we will experience sustainable growth year on year."

Lynne Martin, Business Link York and North Yorkshire's high-growth advisor, said: "The aim of the network is to help and support entrepreneurial companies such as Terrington, with advice, specialist referrals and access to financial support, which will enable them to achieve their growth ambitions as quickly as possible.

"The wealth that they generate and the jobs that they create are essential to the well-being of the York and North Yorkshire economy."
