YORK Under 11s brought down the curtain on this season's York and District Junior Cricket League with a last-ball win over newcomers Londesbrough Park to clinch the BYB Championship, writes Dave Flett.
Charlie Elliot (1-6) and Ryan Waite (1-4) were backed up by some good fielding as Park made 221-7.
In reply, Londesbrough bowlers Eddie Salmon (2-12), Tom Sowerby (0-5) and Tom Noble (0-11) kept York in check with four runs required off the last over and the final pair at the wicket.
But Chris Burn (15no) and Matthew Prosser (6no) steered York home with some-well taken singles and survived the last ball to finish on 222-6 to win by one run.
In the other age groups, Pocklington completed the under-15 League and Presidents Cup double while York Under 13s triumphed in the Hirepoint League and Cup.
Stamford Bridge and Sheriff Hutton Bridge were the respective U15 and U13 Plate winners.
The six-a-side trophy was also won by Sheriff Hutton Bridge and, with Heworth finishing runners-up in three competitions and Acomb one, the league was keenly contested between a wide spread of clubs.
