SOME time ago we read of various initiatives to start to clear the streets of York of some of the unwanted signs, poles and other types of irrelevant street "furniture".
I would be interested to know how things are progressing. Can any of your readers offer some information please?
I was amused the other day when riding my bike into the city. I was waiting to cross the road at the junction of Salisbury Road and the Clifton Bridge road, standing at the traffic lights after pressing the button for the light to go green.
I looked for the light and it was so high on the post above my head it would have been clearly visible to any passing boat on the river, but alas not to me on my bike.
The problem is a one-size-fits-all sign post, far too big for the job needed. I would suggest this is part of the problem.
