THE first Scandinavian log cabin holiday hamlet in North Yorkshire is now open for business and attracting interest from holidaymakers.
Four log cabins have now been completed at Home Farm, Moreby, Stillingfleet, near Selby, thanks to help from the York office of chartered surveyors and property consultants Lightly & Lightly.
The first four two and three bedroomed log cabins, installed at a cost of more than £200,000, are the latest stage of the diversification of the 200-acre beef and arable Home Farm which first branched into the tourism industry more than 20 years ago.
Rosie Coward, daughter of farmer Gordon Coward, who runs the holiday hamlet with her sister, Jennifer, said: "The log cabins are just like you would see in Norway or Finland and add something really distinctive to our holiday offer. We are getting lots of interest from holiday makers and plan to install more in a second stage next year."
All the cabins are equipped with modern conveniences and furnished, Each sleeps between four and six people and has a veranda with views over parkland or river meadow.
The farm has signed up with Britain's largest self-catering holiday booking company, Hoseasons, which is marketing the Scandinavian hamlet nationwide.
