Red River Rebel can enhance his already impressive Beverley record tomorrow by following up his latest course success.
John Norton's seven-year-old is a four-time winner on the Westwood, and he also boasts a host of placed efforts on his favourite course.
His target tomorrow is the Downey's Diary Handicap, in which he has excellent prospects judged on his latest gritty performance two weeks ago, when he beat Heathyards Pride by a length. Darren Williams, in the saddle on that occasion and a jockey who knows Red River Rebel well, takes the mount again.
Nap selection Oblique makes plenty of appeal in the East Riding Mail Handicap over ten furlongs.
Sir Mark Prescott's promising filly made a belated start to her season at Newcastle last week and duly obliged in maiden company, looking every inch a filly to follow. Seb Sanders has the mount.
Red Forest may be up to opening his seasonal account in the toteexacta Handicap over two miles.
Dale Gibson's mount gave notice that his winning turn was near when finishing second in a similar race at Thirsk 11 days ago. He represents trainer John Mackie, who sent out a winner at Southwell yesterday.
Tim Easterby has good prospects of lifting the £12,000 totesport.com Handicap over five furlongs with Artie, the mount of Kevin Darley.
Just denied at Ripon last week, Artie, who has had a frustrating summer, is overdue a win. Opportunity might come knocking for him here.
With Robert Winston sidelined with injury after his horrific fall at Ayr last Saturday, Neil Callan comes in for the mount on Sir Michael Stoute's Bold Eagle, who looks up to winning the Hull Daily Mail Maiden Stakes.
Alpine Hideaway, a prolific winner on this course, goes for the Mail Publications Claiming Stakes, which he won last year for the third time. But John Wainwright's veteran performer may be foiled in his latest attempt by his stablemate, Time To Regret, who has been running well lately and who is overdue a winning turn.
At Yarmouth, Coconut Squeak looks up to defying top-weight in the Parkside Leisure Holiday Caravans Fillies' Handicap over six furlongs. The three-year-old failed by just a short head at Epsom on her latest start and comes into this race in fine form.
Successor may prove the answer to the Weatherbys Insurance Handicap. Mark Usher's charge has been in good form lately and will receive every assistance from Hayley Tur-ner, whose apprentice allow-ance will reduce her mount's weight by a handy 3lb.
Bold Crusader (2.50), a well-bred newcomer from the powerful Godolphin stable, and the speedy Nan Scurry (4.20) are two others to note.
Wednesday's tips:
