Ryedale trainer Paul Midgley, in a happier frame of mind nowadays than he was in the first half of the year, can figure on the Beverley scoreboard tomorrow with nap selection Fairy Monarch.

Midgley, who trains at Westow near Malton, produced Fairy Monarch to win at Pontefract last month, a welcome success for the former jump jockey, who had been winnerless since February, during which time his horses had been under the cloud of a virus.

The tide has now turned for Midgley, who has had a couple more winners since, and Fairy Monarch looks set to add to his tally in the East Riding Handicap for amateur riders.

On his only subsequent start since winning, Fairy Monarch went down by only half-a-length and a head to Constable Burton and Darghan at Nottingham over a distance of almost ten furlongs.

Back to an extended mile tomorrow, Fairy Monarch should be in his element and Midgley, having booked the experienced Simon Walker to take the mount, could well be welcoming in another winner.

Our Teddy gets the vote in the Nick Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap over ten furlongs.

Paul Blockley's gelding has been running well lately, being a narrowly-beaten second at Pontefract two outings ago and finishing on the heels of the principals when a close-up fourth at Sandown last time when stepping up to tomorrow's distance of ten furlongs.

With the in-form Fergal Lynch taking the mount, Our Teddy is fancied to finally bring to an end his long losing run.

Blockley can also land the Beverley Bullet Day Next Saturday Selling Handicap with French Mannequin, successful at Musselburgh two outings ago, and also to be ridden by Lynch.

Tim Easterby has good prospects of landing the Racing UK On Channel 432 Maiden Fillies' Stakes with Misphire.

Dave Allan's mount shaped well on her latest visit to this course when a close-up fourth to Abbey Cat, and looked a shade unlucky that day as she had little room to manoeuvre on the rails.

At Sandown, Quality Street can resume winning ways in the Flyers Handicap over five furlongs.

The three-year-old went down by only half-a-length to Diamond Katie over this course-and-distance last time. That was only her third career start and she is plainly improving with each race.

Grizedale should go well in the totesport Supports Vets For Racing Handicap.

John Akehurst's gelding got his head in front last weekend and, although burdened with a 6lb penalty here, it may not be enough to prevent him completing a quick double.
