A 42-YEAR-OLD mother-of-two from Harrogate has struck on an imaginative new business idea, that means her working days will be one long party.
Sonya Baker's new business, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, which she has launched with her husband, David, will host imaginative parties for four to 14-year-olds.
Each of Sonya's parties lasts two hours and is tailored for different aged children including Fairy World (four and six years), parties for younger children and Chick Flick parties for older girls.
Parties include pampering, nail art, funky hair styling and glittery make-up as well as use of the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun dance mat and karaoke system.
Sonya has launched the business from her home in Harrogate, where she lives with her husband, David, who is a partner in the business and her two children.
So great has been the demand that she has taken on five people.
Now she plans to expand the business into the York area, running three vans, within the next 18 months.
Sonya said: "This is such a fun business to be running and every party is different. Parents get the peace of mind of having organised entertainment for their children that is appropriate to their age, but lets them feel grown up.
"Having a young daughter myself, I know how difficult it can be thinking of different party ideas for every birthday. This new business is perfect as we offer a range of different themes for all ages."
For the past 25 years Sonya worked in finance and recently decided to make a career change by going into the beauty industry. This new business is ideal and allows her to run it from the comfort of her own home.
She said: "I'm excited about progressing the business, my daughter has been helping me with the marketing through her school. I've also targeted the local beauty college for prospective employees."
Parties cost from £120. For more information and to book a Girls Just Wanna Have Fun party visit www.girlsjust.com or phone 0845 130 42 14.
