POLICE were this afternoon guarding a house in Garfield Terrace, York, after a young man died in "unexplained" circumstances in a nearby street.
Two men were arrested and were being interviewed at York police station. Both arrests were in the same location.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed that this was following the death of a "young male". The house being guarded is part of the same inquiry.
Police were called by the ambulance service which arrived at the scene at 6.10am today.
Residents reported that police forensic teams had visited the house today and had asked a newsagent in the road for the tape from their CCTV cameras.
Householders were today mystified by the police presence in the street.
Neighbour Brigitt Glenister, 39, said police had come to interview her at her home at about 8.15am.
She said: "They asked me if I'd heard anything. I don't really know anything about it, it's awful when this kind of things happens on your doorstep."
