A CHILD rapist who carried out a string of sexual attacks on a young girl has been jailed for ten years.
A court heard that Michael Brown, 36, groomed his victim over a 14-month period before raping her at his home in Station Road, Church Fenton, near Tadcaster.
Passing sentence at Leeds Crown Court yesterday, Judge Sally Cahill QC said Brown had shown no consideration or feeling for his victim, who was likely to be permanently scarred by the attacks.
She sentenced him to 10 years behind bars with a five-year extension, which means that once he is released he will remain subject to supervision and recall for a further five years.
He was also banned for life from working with children and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register.
Brown had denied three charges of indecency with a child, three of indecent assault, one of attempted rape and one of rape. But a jury convicted him on all charges after a five-day trial at York Crown Court in June.
