I HAD the pleasure of talking to a group of Normandy veterans when they did a collection in the store where I work on security.
They were a remarkable bunch, and the subject turned to today's discipline (or rather lack of it). They all agreed with me that National Service should never have been stopped. We see a yob culture in our town centres, late at night with the thugs terrifying decent members of the public and causing criminal damage. Bring back National Service. If Blair really is intent on cleaning up the streets, that's the way to do it. Make them show respect, teach them discipline because there is none whatsoever in the schools or at home.
Bad Lads Army, on ITV, is just pure entertainment, nothing else. So come on Mr Blair and all the other ostriches, it's time to take your head out of the sand!
