IN response to Ms Ferry's letter (August 11), I would like to recommend the Disabled Go website to anyone with a disability who wants to get out and about in York.
The website has been funded by City of York Council and is supported by Marks & Spencer, York Tourism Bureau and York Business Pride, and provides free on-line disabled access information, to over 1,000 venues in York.
The site - www.disabledgo.info - enables people to find out what disabled facilities are offered, not just by restaurants or cafs, but by a whole range of shops, entertainment venues, tourist attractions and community centres.
Each of the venues listed by Disabled Go were also given information on how to make their business more accessible to disabled people and to promote better understanding and awareness of disability issues.
