THE odds on MS York Georgia Horsley becoming Miss England 2005 are getting shorter by the day.

On line bookies paddypower.com has the 18-year-old student in third place with odds of 9-1 behind joint favourites Miss Brighton and Miss Maya, who both have 8-1 odds.

Previously the odds on Georgia taking home the crown from the prestigious event were 40-1, but recent interest has propelled her up the rankings.

Georgia, who is riding high after getting her A and AS-level exam results last week, said to win Miss England would be her "dream come true" and could pave the way towards ambitions of becoming a model.

"I can't believe it. It would be completely out of this world if I won Miss England. To win something like that would be such an achievement," she said.

Georgia, from Norton, was crowned MS York at a glittering dinner and ceremony at York Racecourse in May.

She was picked from among 20 glamorous hopefuls by a panel of judges after parading up and down the catwalk in a number of fashion styles.

As competition winner she won the chance to represent the city in Miss England 2005 and also a modelling contract, a £500 photography portfolio, and a two-night break at a Best Western Hotel of her choice.

For the time being Georgia said she was looking forward to the contest, which is being held in Liverpool on September 2 and 3.
