I WRITE in response to Barbara Burn's comments 'Unfit to raise kids' (Letters, August 19). Some social workers have no idea how to treat people who appear to them abnormal or unwell, especially vulnerable or those who have had a mental illness, or breakdown.
The experiences from a famous North Yorkshire seaside town where a close family member lives have been horrendous and very destructive.
No "professionals", had the caring approach required, tact was non-existent.
I often wonder where they were trained to have such a dire approach. They have no idea how to treat people with the respect and the dignity clients deserve.
All they do is cause severe stress to those who have had terrible experiences with breakdowns or similar illnesses.
They pay thousands of taxpayers' money to get people privately assessed to cover the mess they have made of destroying the lives of young children by taking the parents away from them.
Mrs Jan Rollinson,
New Lane,
York.
