ANOTHER few dozen Terry's workers left the factory today as the long wind-down continues.
The way Kraft Foods is managing the closure - with a slow drip feed of staff through the exit doors - suggests the Chicago firm has yet to grasp the historical importance of the chocolate works to its community.
After giving many years' service, the staff deserve better. After 239 years of Terry's in the city, York deserves better.
We hope Kraft executives will host a reception for its redundant employees when the factory finally closes. To let Terry's slowly melt away without any official commemoration would be a terrible shame.
