I HAVE just received the leaflet informing me that my household rubbish will now only be collected once a fortnight, as will my "blue box".

I consider us to be responsible people because we fill our blue box to capacity every week, and put it out for collection.

There are five people living in this house and by the end of a week our large bin is overflowing.

Can the council tell me what I should do with the excess rubbish that will amount at the end of a week, because we cannot last with our bin only being emptied once a fortnight?

I know people may tell me to take things to the tip, but why should I? Is my council tax going to be reduced if I have to dispose of my own rubbish?

Do I just leave it all on the street so that rats and other vermin can help themselves?

City of York Council wants people's money, but God forbid they should have to work for it.

The council is supposed to be encouraging people to use bikes instead of cars, but if people now have to go to the tip with extra rubbish there will be more cars on the road at weekends all queuing to get in. Or shall we put our rubbish it in a back-pack and cycle down?
