THE letters and article about the new green bins touched me close to the heart (August 25).

When I received the letter from the council I was astounded. I don't know what we will do with our ordinary rubbish.

We have a nearly full grey wheelie bin each week. Sometimes we have too much to fit in one week and have to keep it over till we have a lighter rubbish week since they won't take extra bags.

We already compost nearly all our garden waste and kitchen waste so will have very little to put in a green bin.

Most of our grey bin waste is packaging. I cannot re-use packaging as the letter suggested or not acquire it. The council's suggestions are not helpful.

I do not know what we will do with our rubbish when the collections are only fortnightly. We don't have a car so I can't take it to a tip.

I phoned the York Pride line to ask them what I could do, but have had no response though they obviously received the call since they sent the extra bag for paper rubbish that I asked for.

There must be lots of us who are in this situation. Why are the council doing this to us? Do they have "think tanks" to discover what they can do that will upset people most?

First it was parking, now removing our rubbish collections. I consider that providing a good rubbish collection service is a primary function of the council.
