YORK golfer Simon Dyson heads to Switzerland for the European Masters still buzzing after his stunning final round in Munich on Sunday.
He tore up the Nord-Eichenreid course in Munich with an amazing final round of 62 to finish 19 under par in the BMW International.
It lifted him to seventh place overall, six shots behind winner David Howell, who won his second European Tour title after a six-year wait.
It earned Malton and Norton Golf Club member Dyson £40,641 and lifted him to 54th place in the European Tour rankings with earnings of £230,336 this season.
His effort in Germany would have equalled the course record but for the preferred lies in operation.
There was little hint of the drama to come as Dyson dropped a shot on the opening hole of his final round.
After a trot of three successive pars, he reeled off eagles at the 331-yard fifth and the 481-yard sixth.
His hot streak continued as he collected birdies at seven and eight and went into the back nine having picked up five shots on the day.
A run of three birdies on the bounce from hole ten saw him shoot up the leaderboard and he finished by picking up two more strokes at the 16th and final holes for a ten-under par round.
"I pulled my tee shot on the fifth right behind a tree and had to play a bump and run under it from 96 yards and it went in. It absolutely changed the round," said the 27-year-old.
"To be honest I wasn't sure how many under I was towards the end. A few weeks ago I played in a mate's pro-am and shot ten under but it's totally different when you have a proper scorecard in your pocket and are playing for a lot of money. I'm chuffed."
The European Masters is being held at the Crans-sur-Sierre course in Crans Montana, Switzerland, and is the first competition to count towards next year's Ryder Cup. The tournament starts on Thursday.
