WITH the continued increases in property prices in York, I read with interest your article 'Neglected house row' (August 25).
My daughter and grandson live with us and would love a property such as the one mentioned in Almsford Road, but all seem out of reach financially.
Perhaps the Press or the newly- formed Keep York Local Party could put together a list of long- term empty properties in York and start to "name and shame" the owners.
I know of at least six properties, all privately owned, to start the campaign.
To anyone reading this letter who owns a property that has been left empty and allowed to become derelict for the so-called benefit of long-term investment, consider yourself a disgrace to the people of this city.
Tracing the owner of any property is easy and costs £4 if you contact the York Land Registry for the correct forms (01904) 450000. This service is also fast and all properties that have been sold since 1977 are, I believe, registered.
