YORK Acorn ARLC warmed up for their debut game in National Conference League division one with a big friendly win over local rivals New Earswick All Blacks.
The promoted Blue and Golds, who start their campaign on Saturday at home to East Leeds, won 62-0 and new coach Eric Fitzsimons said: "It was a good run-out.
"We were a bit dysfunctional for the first half-hour but got ourselves reorganised and things went a lot better. New Earswick are a good team but I think they were a bit shocked and we were a bit too much for them."
All Blacks, who were also promoted last year, begin their Pennine League division one campaign this Saturday at home to St Joseph's.
A full preview of the amateur rugby league season will be carried in tomorrow's Evening Press.
