MAY I suggest a cost-effective way of improving traffic flow on the most congested section of the ring road, between Clifton Moor roundabout and the A19 roundabout?
It is simply by using Tarmac that is already in place to its maximum. Have two "get into lane now" signs and repaint the carriageway into three lanes.
Move one lane away from each roundabout with double white lines and two lanes approaching each roundabout with "get into lane now" signs re-sited to halfway between both roundabouts.
This section could be done as an experiment and if successful could be spplied on other sections.
