Leeds United are still hoping to get a fee for Eirik Bakke who has joined Aston Villa on loan until January. Striker Michael Ricketts also went to Cardiff on a three-month loan.
Meanwhile, manager Kevin Blackwell decided against bringing in Viking Stavanger defender Brede Hangeland.
Bakke has played just over 180 games for Leeds since joining them from Songdal in 1999, but his past two injury-hit seasons have restricted him to just 12 matches.
Villa boss David O'Leary, who originally brought the Norwegian international to Leeds, was keen to add him to his side, but reluctant to pay a fee in case Bakke broke down again.
The compromise was a three-month loan so Bakke can prove his fitness.
Leeds' Elland Road will host the England v Austria European Under-21 championship qualifier on Friday, October 7, kick-off 7.45pm. Tickets will go on general sale on September 19.
