WITH a tough weekend in prospect York Cricket Club skipper Marcus Wood will have to restore his team's morale after disappointing performances over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Tomorrow they visit Cleethorpes, Yorkshire ECB Premier League champions in 2003, who now are only mid-table.
York need to take the full eight points to retain any chance of retaining their league title. Even then they have to hope that Scarborough, visiting Harrogate, can avoid being bowled out so that, if they lose to the St George's Road side, their opponents will only get six points.
This is Harrogate's final match and it would give York the chance of sharing the title with an outright victory at home over Sheffield United on Saturday week
This Sunday York travel to Bradford and Bingley's ground to play Pudsey Congs in the final of the Black Sheep Brewery Competition (12-30pm start).
Congs have been hailed as the best club side in Britain so it is a formidable challenge for York who were reinstated in to the competition after their semi-final vanquishers, Pudsey St Lawrence, were ejected for fielding an ineligible player.
York hope to have Australian batsman Michael Sheedy fit again after missing last weekend with a damaged back
York IV are in action at Kelfield tomorrow in the HPH York Vale League.
