ENVIRONMENT Agency chairman Sir John Harman has visited Hawnby to view the results of the clear-up and rebuild after June's flash floods.
The torrents brought sudden, isolated havoc to the communities affected. Their work to recover from the chaos must be applauded.
But as we watch television pictures of the devastation in the USA, where the city of New Orleans has had to be abandoned following a biblical flood, it puts our problems in perspective.
We are fortunate to live in a part of the world where even the roughest storms are not catastrophic.
