Selby started their new Yorkshire 1 campaign with a comprehensive 36-17 win over an enthusiastic, but below strength Keighley.
After Keighley full-back Mathew Cox pulled a penalty kick wide, Selby took the leadwhen they took a scrum against the head to leave No 8, and man of the match, Kevin Lowery, to pick up and go over.
Shaun Austerfield missed the conversion but Selby went further ahead when their powerful forwards took their second ball against the head on the Keighley five-metre line - once again, Lowery, picked up and dived over.
Full-back Austerfield missed the kick but surged further ahead when they won a scrum under the posts on the Keighley five-metre line and the ball was spread wide for centre Andy Gabel to touch down near the corner.
Five minutes after the interval Selby went 22-0 up when an Austerfield break from a scrum 30 metres out saw winger Martin Protheroe touch down and Austerfield added the conversion.
Selby gave away a soft try when the Keighley No 8 Paul Salmon, accepted a pass in the Selby back line and raced 40 metres to go under the posts. Cox kicked the conversion.
The home side gained a 19-point cushion when scrum-half Mathew Smith jinked his way over on 66 minutes and Toby Pemberton added the extras.
Two minutes later Andrew Pocklington was forced to re-enter the fray at prop after Selby's new Kiwi signing from Wellington, Richard Fuller, who had made an impressive start, went off injured.
A poor throw at a line-out by Keighley allowed Selby flanker Duncan Phillips to catch and go over for another try and Pemberton slotted over an excellent conversion.
Keighley reduced their arrears five minutes later when winger Nigel Curr went over and Cox kicked the conversion.
