CHAMPIONS Dringhouses, who lost only three times in the whole of last season, went down for the second time in the new Leeper Hare York and District Football League premier division campaign.
This time the loss was a 5-2 defeat suffered at Thorpe United.
The home side were four up through Andy Moore, Craig Pickles (2) and Shane Singleton before Dringhouses got back into the game with a Craig Atkinson penalty.
But their cause was not helped when they lost experienced defender Graham Mitchell ten minutes before the break - red-carded for abusive language.
Lee Atkinson bagged another for Dringhouses late in the game but Dean Wood still had time to make it five for Thorpe.
The students of St John's College bounced back from a heavy mid-week defeat to thrash Dunnington 6-0.
Club secretary Ben Winstanley led the way with a hat-trick. Mike Fireck, Robin Bedford and Lee Allington all added a goal each.
Nestl Rowntree got off to a flying start against visitors Bishopthorpe with Steve Blake tapping in a Joe Gaughan pass to net the first of his three goals.
Gaughan added his name to the scoresheet with the second and then Blake converted a penalty and added the fourth before half-time.
Bishopthorpe commanded the second half but lacked the killer touch and squandered more than enough chances to get something.
Ben Wheeler put Malton Bacon Factory in front at Haxby, Scott Barley equalised for the home side but Damon Cox netted a winner for the Factory ranks.
A Heath Brown header in the 65th minute provided the only goal of the game as Old Malton took all three points at Tate & Lyle who are still searching for their first point of the season.
Defences were on top as Pocklington Town and Copmanthorpe fought out a 0-0 draw.
Kartiers are improving with every game and did well to take a point off visitors Huntington who scored first when Chris Dyson headed home a Kieron Darlow cross.
