York Cricket Club lost the Black Sheep Brewery Trophy final by six wickets to Pudsey Congs.
It was the Bradford League side's fourth victory out of the last five finals.
York chose to bat on a hot day and a good pitch, making a steady, if unspectacular, start from Michael Sheedy and Dan Broadbent.
But when Simon Mason joined Sheedy the total began to motor. Sheedy attacked Babar Butt but was bowled by Shehzad Butt on the first delivery after drinks.
Nick Kay began to play fluently and Mason wrecked Doidge with 15 in one over. However Glenn Roberts' left-arm spin was proving testing and he claimed Kay and Mason in the 39th over.
The rest of the innings was steered by Duncan Snell, whose half-century was a tribute to his growing maturity. York's final total of 265 was a useful if not shut-out target.
However, York leaked runs as Andy Bethel and former Yorkshire batsman Bradley Parker set off at a pace reaching a century parnership in only 15 overs.
York skipper Marcus Wood came on to stem the flow and bowled Bethel in his second over and two balls later a smart Mason throw ran out Parker in a misunderstanding with Babar Butt.
But the match was almost out of York's control as Butt dropped anchor in a two-hour vigil to steer his side to a deserved victory.
Andrew Bairstow fired off the shots for a rapid 50 in a 116-run partnership and Roberts hit the winning runs with 13 balls to spare.
York have one final fixture, at home on Saturday to Sheffield United in the Yorkshire League, to go out on a high note to buoy them through the winter.
