IT is appalling that after the blaze at the Fulford flats City of York Council is going to ask the Government to crack down on badly-built homes (September 5).
It was only just over two years ago that we were forced out of our house on Clifton Moor because it was unfit for human occupancy. This house was built in 2000 for City of York Council and a housing association.
Mould was growing up the walls and mould spores were in the house because the damp-proof membrane was not sealed properly which should have been checked by council and housing association officials. The council should concentrate on getting their properties in order before criticising other builders' mistakes.
