THERE was a grimace in the greeting as New Earswick All Blacks Under-10 captain Ben Pulleyn and team-mates welcome Heworth's Michael Hinds ahead of NEAB annual gala and rugby league festival this weekend.
Teams from across the region will go head-to-head in an action-packed weekend at White Rose Avenue.
Besides local rivals Heworth and Acorn, challengers include East Leeds, Castleford Lock Lane, Headingley, Dudley Hill and Hunslet.
Off the pitch activities will include raffle and tombola stalls, a bouncy castle, bar and barbecue and a first team game between New Earswick All Blacks and Bradford Dudley Hill (2.30pm).
The Evening Press will also be at the event offering a free goody bag with every issue of Saturday's paper sold.
The action on both days kicks off at 10.30am with ages under-10, U11, and U13 in action on Saturday and U8, U9, U12 and U14 battling it out on Sunday.
All Blacks need players for the U9 and U10 teams. Both train on Tuesdays from 6-7pm. Attend or call Emma Ireland on 07840 433158 for information.
