Shell-shocked Heworth are looking to dust themselves off and start again in National Conference Two following their opening day 66-4 thumping at Widnes St Maries.
The Villagers host Huddersfield Sharks on Saturday looking to capitalise on the memory of the rare double they completed over the Sharks last season while trying to erase all thoughts of the opening day debacle.
But this year's Sharks come with the added bite of having Leeds Rhinos centre Keith Senior in their coaching ranks, and things could be a lot tougher this time round.
Former York Wasps half-back Paddy Handley is in line for a start after having to miss last Saturday's encounter, and should slot into an otherwise unchanged side.
Heworth spokesman Ken Sykes said: "It was a pretty hard start, wasn't it? We will be looking at how Widnes do against Stanningley to work out how significant last week's result was but it's equally important that we improve ourselves. It's a key game for us this week."
Heworth 'A' are also at home to Sharlston 'A' in division three of the CMS Yorkshire League, kick off 2pm.
York Acorn are hunting back-to-back National Conference One wins at Walney Central to consolidate their 32-30 opening day triumph, while York Acorn 'A' entertain Hoyland Vikings in Pennine League division three keen to wipe their first-day loss off the slate.
Also promoted Selby Warriors go to Illingworth 'A' in division four in search of their maiden higher-league win.
