IN response to the debate on waste disposal, it is obvious to me that the council officials involved may be experts on waste disposal but know nothing about gardening.
In my garden I have more than 1000 bedding plants, three lawns, a conifer hedge and a greenhouse. At the end of September and the beginning of October I clear my garden and prepare my flower beds for winter plants and plan for the following year. So I produce a lot of garden waste in a short period of time.
Therefore the introduction of a fortnightly refuse collection will present problems. I have heard that some people talk to plants so could the "experts" from the council come and talk to mine and tell the bedding plants to die off at fortnightly intervals, during which the grass will be told not to grow and my tomato plants told to last until November.
Mine is not a large garden, it just contains a lot.
