Yorkshire Phoenix are hoping to ruin the party when they conclude their season by taking on Sussex Sharks in the totesport League at Hove tomorrow.

Sussex fans will be celebrating big time if Sharks win because it means they will finish top of the second division.

Promotion is already assured but if Yorkshire beat them they will not lead the pack if Durham Dynamos also overcome Warwickshire Bears at Edgbaston.

Yorkshire will certainly be doing Sussex no favours because they are determined to end what has been a miserable season in the competition on a bright note.

They have slumped to seven consecutive totesport League defeats but they can still sign off by completing a notable double because their last victory against county opposition was when they beat Sussex by three wickets at Headingley on May 1.

That game was reduced to 43 overs-a-side due to a short hold-up for rain and Yorkshire have not lost even an over to the weather in any other totesport match so far this season.

With their Championship programme now concluded, Yorkshire will field a strong side and fast bowlers Deon Kruis and Tim Bresnan are both expected to play, although captain Craig White may once again choose to rest his sore knee.

It will also most likely be the farewell appearance of Australian all-rounder Ian Harvey. Darren Lehmann returns next season and Yorkshire are keen to sign a fast bowler as their other overseas player.

Yorkshire Phoenix (v Sussex Sharks) from: Wood, Sayers, McGrath, Lumb, Harvey, White, Bresnan, Guy, Wainwright, Lawson, Kruis, Cleary, Patterson.
