City Of Troy, unbeaten in two starts, can hit the jackpot tomorrow as he bids for a hat-trick on a not-to-be-missed programme at Newmarket.
The exciting juvenile, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, lines-up for the totesport.com Royal Lodge Stakes with Darryll Holland in the saddle.
Having got off the mark at Newbury in July, when he overcame trouble in running, City Of Troy fulfilled that initial promise at Doncaster's St Leger meeting when quickening stylishly to beat Art Deco by half-a-length.
The next rung of the ladder is tomorrow's step up to Group 2 company and City Of Troy, a son of Grand Lodge, looks to possess all the right credentials to bridge the gap.
There are, of course, high hopes from North Yorkshire that Palace Episode will clinch this prestigious event. Trained by Kevin Ryan, this classy colt has won both his races, at Catterick and York in the style of a very smart performer. He commands plenty of respect.
A cracking race is in prospect and City Of Troy is fancied to have the edge.
The totepool Diadem Stakes over six furlongs offers Quito the chance to clinch a Group 2 prize for David Chapman's Stillington stable.
Tough, consistent and very talented, Quito won in Listed company on the July course at Newmarket the last time he raced over this trip three outings ago. He appears to be still in excellent form.
Alan Swinbank is another North Yorkshire trainer with strong claims. Based at Melsonby near Richmond, Swinbank, who won last weekend's Irish St Leger with Collier Hill, saddles his prolific winner Ouninpohja in the totesport Handicap.
Having already completed a four-timer, nap selection Ouninpohja owes nobody anything, but there could be even more to come from this vastly-improved gelding.
