HARROGATE Town are just two matches from reaching the first round proper of the FA Cup after a 3-0 victory over Great Harwood Town, writes Dave Flett.

Goole will also join them in the third qualifying round if they can make home advantage count in tomorrow night's replay against Gainsborough Trinity after they held the Nationwide North outfit to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Harrogate made progress after Gareth Grant and Marc Smith goals gave them a commanding advantage over the North West Counties League side after just 11 minutes.

Grant then added his second of the game six minutes from time to put the tie beyond any doubt.

Former York City defender Leigh Wood also returned to action in the game for the first time since breaking his nose.

Goole led 2-0 in their tie but will get a second bite of the cherry tomorrow evening at Victoria Pleasure Grounds.

Former Leeds United and York City loan player Rob Constable fired Goole in front on 33 minutes and Gary Shaw added a second five minutes later.

But Trinity pulled a goal back a minute before the break and forced a replay with a second effort on 68 minutes.
