IT was a culinary triumph. The York Festival Of Food and Drink 2005 was the best yet.

The event celebrated all that is tastiest about Yorkshire, with a week-long focus on this region's producers and purveyors of wonderful food and drink.

And the emphasis on young people proved a real eye-opener.

Not only were school meals tried and tested, but children were taught that the finest food does not come out of a packet.

The organisers deserve to put their feet up with a drink of their own.

May we suggest a glass of Yorkshire-crafted real ale?
