NEXT Generation, Heslington, made a fine start to their National Premier Tennis League fixtures with a 3-1 home win over North Yorkshire.
Dutch international Jan Siemerink, a former ATP Tour player, at one time ranked in the world's top 30, has agreed to play if York reach the final stages at David Lloyd, Teesside on March 23-26 next year.
Other newcomers in the squad include Rhys Hanger, David Sanger and Richard Irwin, all professionals from Dorset, and Harrogate pair Andy Carter and Will Cutler.
Next Generation 3, North Yorkshire 1: Gareth Adams and Peter Thomas bt Iain Spears and Kevin Rudd 7-6 6-2; by Mike Dixon and Don Lullestone 6-0 6-1. Andy Carter and Will Cutler lost to Spears-Rudd 3-6 6-3 (8-10 professional tie break); bt Dixon-Lullestone 2-0 retired.
