New Earswick All Blacks Under-16s slipped out of the Yorkshire Cup at the first hurdle to division one rivals Norland Sharks.
In a defensive game, strong running from props Sam Waite and Gareth Swanson gained All Blacks yards but chances were few and both Mikey Horton and Lee Quinn were held up on the line.
The scores remained deadlocked until half-time, thanks to big tackling from Joe Davis, but Norland broke through with two quick tries midway through the second half and despite the efforts of Dan Lofthouse, won 14-0.
Cool thinking under pressure from New Earswick All Blacks U15s earned them a 50-8 win at Hunslet Parkside.
Tom Stancliffe (3), Kayle Stannard (2) and Adam Caddie were among the try-scorers. The top tacklers in a game All Blacks dominated defensively were Nick Speck and Steve Gardner.
