York City Knights are awaiting new talks with Leigh Centurions over the transfer sagas involving Tere Glassie and Dana Wilson.
The Evening Press revealed earlier this month that the Cook Islanders had penned high-profile deals at Huntington Stadium only to then do a 'U'-turn and claim they didn't want to come to York after all.
Rumours that relegated Super League side Leigh had subsequently offered back-rower Glassie a better deal have since been substantiated, and it then emerged that prop forward Wilson was set to follow his compatriot from National League One rivals Oldham to Hilton Park under similar circumstances. It had been thought that Wilson was leaving England for good.
However, the Knights hold both players' registrations and chief executive John Guildford said no discussions had taken place with the Centurions as regards their release.
"I gather Leigh are interested but we haven't had discussions with the club," he said.
The duo, who flew home to New Zealand earlier this week, thus remain Knights players at this stage but their position at Huntington Stadium is uncertain as the club have stated they no longer want them.
York City Knights' Supporters' Club will be staging a quiz night in the Huntington Stadium bar on Thursday, October 20, starting at 7.30pm. Entry costs £1.
