AS part of its English Cricket Board Focus Club programme, York CC is running a cricket development course for children aged seven to 11.
It will be held at Canon Lee School, Rawcliffe Lane, Clifton on October 24-29 from 10am until noon. The cost is £20 for the week. Coaching will be managed by Bob Paddison, chairman of the York Coaches Association. Book through Chris Houseman on 01904 610258.
The York Club's junior programme runs eight teams from Under-9 to U15 and has enjoyed a successful season.
The U9s won both York and Wetherby league titles, while both U11 teams won their zones with the senior team claiming the York Junior League Championship play-off.
The U15 group were expected to be the most successful squad, but lost out in both Cup and League finals to a powerful Pocklington side.
The top squad award went to the U13s, who carried off both the Hirepoint-sponsored Cup and League competitions.
There were many individual performances of note but the most remarkable contribution came from nine-year-old Ryan Waite, who played at all four levels claiming 30 wickets on the way with his medium-pacers.
