YORK once again loses out because of the Government funding regime that works against this city. The Government has taken millions of pounds from York in landfill tax and returned just a fraction to help services or provide funds for recycling schemes.
Is the Government interested in promoting recycling or is this another way of pushing the tax burden from central Government and on to local councils?
At least City of York Council has made a stand and taken positive steps to tackle the issue of recycling.
Perhaps our local MP would like to stand up for York and help the city to get the funding for plastic and cardboard collection, rather than doing his usual opportunistic council bashing.
