Signal Hill, who went into many notebooks after making a promising debut at Newcastle last week, can fulfil that promise at Southwell tomorrow.
The two-year-old, trained at Newmarket by William Haggas, goes for division two of the Continental Tyres Maiden Auction Stakes and will be partnered by Tony Culhane, whose two winners at Catterick on Saturday included the Haggas-trained Whispering Death.
Signal Hill was drawn wide at Newcastle and also proved inexperienced on his first outing, running green through the early stages. He finally grasped what was required of him and, despite being hampered in the home straight, stayed on to finish third.
That outing will have taught Signal Hill a lot and he should be much more on his mettle tomorrow. He is awarded my Nap vote.
Harrys House, trained in Ryedale by John Quinn, can land the betfredpoker.com Handicap over five furlongs.
Having been largely disappointing this season, Harrys House won at Ayr last Monday, relishing the rain-softened ground and benefiting from wearing a visor.
He battled home well that day and, with Tony Hamilton once more in the saddle, a double is on the cards, despite a 6lb penalty.
Seb Sanders has a good chance of riding African Gift to success in the Rippon Homes Ltd Handicap
A dual-winner in the summer, African Gift returned from a lay-off to finish a good third at Ayr last week, staying on well after meeting trouble in running.
She should be sharper for that outing and is fancied to make a bold bid tomorrow.
Trainer Paul Nicholls and jockey Ruby Walsh can dominate events over the jumps at Exeter.
They were on the mark at Market Rasen yesterday with easy winner Hoo La Baloo and have strong chances throughout tomorrow's card, not least with Blue Business and Cornish Sett, both useful hurdlers, who are now poised to begin their fencing careers.
Blue Business lines-up for the 3663 Duchy of Cornwall Challenge Cup Beginners' Chase, while Cornish Sett has the Total Pumps Beginners' Chase on his agenda. Both should be hard to beat.
Tuesday's tips:
