HAVING read "Taking the Mickle" (October 14), can we be assured that the Americans will not approach City of York Council for our real architectural heritage, and not just replicas.
May I dare suggest the following inventory to the movie moguls:
1 York Minster as a spectacular backdrop for remakes of such classics as For Whom The Bell Tolls or Charles Laughton's Hunch Back of Notre Dame, complete with the Great Peter Bell.
2 The City Walls - Fort Apache or Within These Walls, new TV series.
3 Clifford's Tower in its original state for Errol Flynn's Robin Hood And His Merry Men or John Wayne's The Alamo.
If this sale of the century takes place, we can all sit back, and say it's Gone With The Wind.
