A YORK home which was partially demolished when a bus ploughed into it has suffered a further catastrophe after a firework landed on the roof.
Firefighters went to 62 Lawrence Street at 8.40pm yesterday, after reports that plastic sheeting covering the roof on the damaged building was alight.
Wooden boards were also damaged by the flames, caused by the firework. It is not thought to have been deliberate.
Last month, elderly sisters Mary Mullen and Bernadette Lake had an amazing escape from the house after a First bus ploughed into it.
A building inspector later concluded that the building was structurally unsound.
A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said firefighters used a hose reel jet, an aerial ladder platform and hand tools to extinguish the flames.
