HAUNTED York will boast a spine-tingling line up of ghostly goings on for Hallowe'en.
As ever, York Dungeon has cooked up a host of spooky attractions for its fright-filled Hallowe'en festival.
The Yukki Dip will surprise those brave enough to put their hand in the tub, while an evil witch will invite visitors to cast "ugly" spells in her cauldron, promising a 100 per cent success rate.
Children in fancy dress will enjoy free entry over the Hallowe'en weekend.
At Jorvik, spooky characters from the Viking past will greet children aged between five and 11 during a special Hallowe'en tour. Spirits from the Viking underworld will act as guides on October 29 at 6pm.
The event costs £6.50 for children and £3 for adults.
To book, phone 01904 543403.
York Ghost Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with more people, attractions and ghosts.
Run by York-based ghost investigation group Psychic & Spectral Investigations, the festival will include ghost walks, talks and demonstrations, as well as several open forums on ghosts and spirits.
The festival will take place between Oct 29 and Oct 31.
Elsewhere, Medieval Molly will show people around the ghastly ale houses of York on her Hallowe'en pub crawl.
The crawl costs £5 a head (drinks not included) and can be booked by calling 01904 610753.
The medieval wench will also hold three nights of ghost stories at Worm Holes Book Shop, followed by Hallowe'en refreshments. Dates are October 27, 28 and 31, between 8pm and 10pm. Tickets cost £10.
The event will also be joined with a special Tarot reading day on Sunday, October 30.
On the water, York Boat will hold its Ghostly River Cruise, inviting guests to join the 'spirits' at the bar with a costumed storyteller.
The cruise sails every night at 7.00pm, boarding at King's Staith. Phone 01904 628324.
If you prefer dry land, join the Original Ghost Walk of York, which promises an evocative evening of intrigue and passion.
Tours run daily from the Kings Arms Pub, Ouse Bridge, at 8pm.
Meanwhile, The Ghost Hunt of York tour leaves daily from Shambles at 7.30pm.
