Crow Wood, seen to good effect on more than one occasion on Knavesmire during the summer, heads to Haydock tomorrow in a bid to bolster his new career as a jumper.
Trained by John Quinn at Norton, the six-year-old scored impressively on his debut at Uttoxeter earlier this month and promises to be hard to beat under a penalty in the Tony Lawton Novices' Hurdle.
Crow Wood proved a high-class handicapper on the Flat. A winner at Epsom's Derby meeting in June, he also finished second in the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot at York, and in the John Smith's Cup.
He has all the right credentials to make a successful hurdler and another victory tomorrow would put him firmly on the right road.
Malcolm Jefferson also has good prospects of figuring on the Haydock scoresheet with Brooklyn Brownie in the jmc.It Handicap Hurdle.
The six-year-old has produced a positive profile over hurdles, winning two of his last four starts, at Bangor and Perth, and finishing a creditable runner-up on the other two occasions.
His fitness here, after a three-month summer break, can only be estimated, but Jefferson's booking of Graham Lee for the mount looks a good sign.
Lee will also be aboard Manbow, who looked a useful performer last season when he won four of his six chases, finishing off with a victory at Wetherby.
There may well be more to come this term from Manbow, who is trained at Middleham by Micky Hammond, and he is not to be underestimated as he returns to action in the betdaq.co.uk Handicap Chase.
Polished will be hard to beat in the Manson Insurance Group Handicap Chase.
Victor Dartnall's gelding ran out an impressive winner from Va Vavoom at Uttoxeter on his latest start when he reverted to fences after a good run of form over hurdles.
A 7lb penalty may not be enough to anchor Polished in this two-and-a-half mile contest and he is awarded the nap vote.
On the Flat at Brighton, Goodenough Mover can provide the season's leading apprentice, Hayley Turner, with another winner in the Weatherbys Insurance Handicap.
The gelding is trained by Andy Turnell, who has enjoyed a purple patch since moving from Ryedale to Swindon, and he comes here after a fine run at Salisbury, where he finished a one-length second to the smart Mutawared.
Over the same distance of six furlongs tomorrow, Goodenough Mover is fancied to go one better.
