I AM so annoyed! On Friday evening my wife and I were attending a service at the Minster, due to start at 5.30 pm but to be there at 5pm. We parked in the Castle car park at 4.45 to allow time to walk to Deansgate.
As I understood the instructions it cost £2 per hour up to 6pm, ie £4 as part hours count as full hours; then £2 more for any length of time from 6pm until early next morning.
We had to assume that we would not return from the service until after six so paid the total fee of £6 feeling decidedly aggrieved at the cost for potentially a couple of hours parking.
On our return the wardens were busy recording the registration details of the many unfortunate motorists in the Castle car park without valid tickets, maybe from interpreting the instructions differently.
In future I will not be coming into York unless really forced to. I can find most of my requirements in Selby where free car parking can still be found.
